Years ago on Christmas eve I received a key holder as a Christmas present from Father Ryszard Mis. The text on the gift package read that if my keys were lost, I could whistle for them and the key holder would whistle back. Pleased, I put my keys on the new key holder and went to Midnight Mass. According to our custom the Great Announcement from the ancient Roman Martyrology was read the then the organ began the entrance hymn. Suddenly the chirpping of a bird was heard accompanying the organ music. I didn’t understand at all where the chirpping was coming from, but I noticed that people were looking at me in a strange way. Then I noticed that, although Father Ryszard was beginning the Mass in a worthy and solemn manner, he had an odd smile on his face. I understood that the chirpping came from the keyholder, which in addition to whistling also reacted to organ music. I carried my ”bird” out of the church. When school began after the Christmas holidays, I noticed that my bird also reacted to children’s high-pitched voices. I put my keys back on another key holder. I really liked my bird, but I liked peace even more.
