Lauantaista 30.11. sunnuntaihin 8.12. Pyhän Ristin kirkossa järjestetään Autuaan Neitsyt Marian perisynnittömän sikiämisen novena.

Novenan rukoushetki kestää noin 15 minuuttia joka päivä, Pyhän Messun jälkeen.
Novena (lat. novem yhdeksän) on yhdeksänpäiväinen rukoushartaus valmistautumisena johonkin tärkeään juhlaan tai tapahtumaan.
Kirkko viettää Autuaan Neitsyt Marian perisynnittömän sikiämisen juhlapyhää 8.12. (tänä vuonna juhla siirretään ma 9.12. adventtisunnuntain takia). Tätä juhlaa on vietetty Syyriassa jo 400-luvulla ja Italiassa 600-luvulla. Monet kirkkoisät tulkitsivat jo hyvin varhain Mariaa koskevat Raamatun lausumat siten, että Maria oli puhtain kaikista ihmisistä, ”uusi Eeva”, ”kaikkien elävien äiti”. Paavi Pius IX vahvisti opin perisynnittömästä sikiämisestä Kirkon opinkappaleeksi 8. joulukuuta 1854. Pyytäkäämme tämän Novenan aikana Neitsyt Marian esirukousta, jotta saisimme armon elää Jeesuksen kanssa niin kuin Maria on elänyt Poikansa kanssa.

From Sunday 30th of November to Sunday 8th of December, in the Holy Cross Church, we organize the Novena of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The prayer moment of Novena endures about 15 minutes daily, after the Holy Mass.
Novena is a form of liturgical service consisting of special prayers on nine successive days in preparing for the important feast or event.
The Church celebrates the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary on December 8th (this year on Monday, December 9th because of the Advent Sunday). In 1854, Pope Pius IX issued the Apostolic constitution Ineffabilis Deus: "The most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instant of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the saviour of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin." (Acta Pii IX, pars 1, Vol. 1, p. 615). The Immaculate Conception is one of the most important Marian feasts in the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church, and is celebrated worldwide.
