On Saturday, August 15, which is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Catholic Diocese of Helsinki celebrates its annual Diocesan Day. The celebrations began with a Mass at Saint Lawrence's Church in Lohja. During the Mass, Dominican deacon Gabriel Salmela OP will be ordained a priest by Bishop Teemu Sippo SCJ. After that the Diocesan Day continues at Stella Maris, where lunch will be served.
Bus transportation has been arranged from the parish to Lohja. The bus from Tampere leaves Holy Cross Church at 7 a.m.. The fare is EUR 20 for a round trip. We will be back in Tampere by 6.30 p.m.
Please let the parish know if you are attending the Diocesan Day celebrations. Please note that those who come by car must also register for the celebrations because we need to know the number of lunch guests attending. Pre-booking a seat on the bus is required.
