Beloved brothers and sisters who belong to the Holy Cross Parish family: We the priests want to express our gratitude to God and to all of you for this past year. Soon, trusting in God's care, we will step into a new year and again we will continue our journeys in the direction of our heavenly home.
At the turn of the year, we experience more deeply the passage of time and how limited our world is. From the Bible we learn that everything that is in this world will end, with the exception of love. Love, which we can also give the name self-giving or sacrifice, is what gives us life. God, who is love, created us in his own image. If we remain in him, we will be able to love with unselfish love, and only then will our lives find the deepest meaning. By abandoning our selfishness, and ourselves we will come to a life that never ends, for it is then a life in God's love. We all learn how to love from Christ and practice it by loving each other. That is why we have a parish.
Beloved parishioners, thank you for your love of God, the Church and us, the priests, which you demonstrate in many different ways. We rejoice in the fact that we, together with you, are able to build up our parish. Our wish to you is that the love of God will fill your hearts during the New Year and throughout your lives.
