Father Tri will become parish Priest in Tampere

Dear Brothers and Sisters, I have an important announcement to make: From the beginning of July this year the following change will take place in our parish: Father Stanislaw will go to Turku to serve there as an assistant priest in the Parish of Saint Bridget and Blessed Hemming. And I will go to Helsinki to serve as an assistant priest in Saint Mary's Parish.

Since the beginning on July, the new parish priest in our parish will be father Tri Nguyen and the assisting priest will be deacon Eze Charles Nwoko, who now serves in Turku. During the coming summer, he will be ordained priest.

I know well that for many of you this news is a big surprise. Also for us, priests, the departure from this parish isn’t easy, but such is the life of us, priests. We go where Christ calls us through the bishop's appointment. Let us take this decision in the spirit of faith.

I'm really happy and relieved for you, that Fr. Tri will be your new parish priest.

Paastonajan retretti Pyhän Ristin kirkossa 23.3.

Lauantaina 23. maaliskuuta Pyhän Ristin kirkossa järjestetään paastonajan retretti otsikolla Eukaristia elämämme lähteenä.

”Jeesus otti leivän, siunasi, mursi ja antoi sen opetuslapsilleen sanoen: Tämä on minun ruumiini, joka annetaan teidän puolestanne. Tehkää tämä minun muistokseni.”(Luuk. 22: 19)

Fastereträtt 23 mars

Lördagen den 23 mars hålls en fastereträtt i Heliga Korsets kyrka. Kl. 10.30 hålls en inledning på finska och därefter firas den heliga mässan kl. 11 (också på finska) och efter det är det tyst tillbedjan av altarets allraheligaste sakrament till kl. 14.45, då dagen avslutas med gemensam bön på finska. Tillfälle till bikt under adorationen (inte på svenska). I församlingssalen kan man läsa i tystnad och där serveras kaffe och te.

Lenten Retreat on March 23

On Saturday, March 23, a Lenten Retreat is held at Holy Cross Church in Tampere. The day begins with an introduction in FInnish at 10.30, followed by Mass in Finnish at 11 a.m. From 11.45 a.m. through 2.45 p.m. there is silent Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, with opportunity for confession. The day ends with a joint prayer at 2.45. During the day, you can also read silently in the parish hall, where coffee and tea will be served.

New Year's Greeting from Holy Cross Church

Beloved brothers and sisters who belong to the Holy Cross Parish family: We the priests want to express our gratitude to God and to all of you for this past year. Soon, trusting in God's care, we will step into a new year and again we will continue our journeys in the direction of our heavenly home.

At the turn of the year, we experience more deeply the passage of time and how limited our world is. From the Bible we learn that everything that is in this world will end, with the exception of love. Love, which we can also give the name self-giving or sacrifice, is what gives us life. God, who is love, created us in his own image. If we remain in him, we will be able to love with unselfish love, and only then will our lives find the deepest meaning. By abandoning our selfishness, and ourselves we will come to a life that never ends, for it is then a life in God's love. We all learn how to love from Christ and practice it by loving each other. That is why we have a parish.

Beloved parishioners, thank you for your love of God, the Church and us, the priests, which you demonstrate in many different ways. We rejoice in the fact that we, together with you, are able to build up our parish. Our wish to you is that the love of God will fill your hearts during the New Year and throughout your lives.

Isä Zenon 50 v. 2.9.2018

Pyhän ristin kirkossa Tampereella vietetään sunnuntaina 2. syyskuuta kirkkoherran, isä Zenon Strykowskin 50-vuotissyntymäpäivää. Juhla alkaa klo 10.30 messulla, jossa isä Zenonin kanssa kiitämme Jumalaa hänen elämästään ja palvelutyöstään ja rukoilemme hänen puolestaan. Sen jälkeen jatkamme yhdessäoloa seurakuntasalissa kahvipöydän ääressä vapaamuotoisen ohjelman parissa. Tervetuloa!

Kyrkoherden 50 år

Söndagen den 2 september firar kyrkoherde Zenon Strykowski SCJ sin 50-årsdag. Festligheterna inleds med en tacksägelsemässa kl. 10.30 och efteråt fortsätter festen i församlingssalen med fritt program. Välkomna!

On Sunday, September 2, we celebrate the fact that our parish priest, Father Zenon Strykowski SCJ, turns 50! We start with a Mass at 10.30 a.m. and then the celebrations continue in the Parish Hall. Welcome!
